Give an eel meal its own time. Check the current menu and seating floor before choosing.

One rice dish or several preparations
First choose one eel-and-rice dish or several preparations over a course. The current Honten menu separates unadon and unaju from eel courses listing liver grill, rolled egg, shirayaki and other preparations before the rice dish. Even a smaller course is described as taking about 1 hour–1 hour 20 minutes for service, so give it its own meal time. Table and tatami-room menus differ, with 10% service in the tatami rooms.
WHERE · On foot from here
Which side of the station, and how far
West of Mitsukoshimae Station, about 250 m in a straight line from the station point. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Ask about the building and seating
The Honkan is at Hongokucho 3-3-4 and the Bekkan at 3-3-2. The detailed Honten guide places 1F tables in the Bekkan and describes steep stairs in the Honkan. Upstairs tatami arrangements differ: confirm the building and floor when chairs or stairs matter. The Mitsukoshi basement outlet is a separate shop.
Allow for the service break and sell-out
Monday–Saturday lunch is 11:00–14:00, last orders 13:30; dinner is 17:00–21:30, last orders 20:30. Sunday and public holidays are closed, and eel can sell out early. If the eel meal is essential, check the arrangements in advance. Leave it enough time instead of fitting it in as a quick snack between other stops.
