Separate the udon bowl from an extra tempura order

At the Shinjuku Gyoen branch, oyakoten udon is listed at ¥1,200, served cold or hot. The separate ¥600 oyako tempura order contains two chicken pieces and a soft-set egg tempura; that price does not buy an udon bowl. Start with the bowl, then decide whether you want another tempura plate.

Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

A meal for noticing noodles and broth separately

The operator describes temperature-controlled flour and brine, then cutting the noodles after the order. Its broth uses Hokkaido kombu, Seto Inland Sea iriko and fish flakes; dipping and bukkake sauces use wine and Japanese honey for sweetness. FOW reads this as a reason to notice noodle resistance separately from sauce sweetness. Choose cold noodles or a hot bowl for the texture and temperature you want now.

Try a strand before combining the components

When the food arrives, try a noodle strand before combining it with the sauce or broth. Notice the contrast between coating and filling while the chicken and egg tempura are warm. Use it to judge whether the elasticity, temperature and sweetness suit you.

Preparation and booking limits change the choice

The operator warns that preparing noodles and tempura after ordering may take around 15 minutes; this is not an estimate of the current queue. International travelers are directed to walk in without a reservation. The separate Japanese notice allowing weekday-dinner bookings for two or more does not override that restriction. Fish broth, honey and wine mean dietary, allergy or alcohol-avoidance needs require direct confirmation before ordering. Choose another meal if those conditions do not fit.

Make the meal decision before joining the queue

Published lunch hours are 11:30–16:00, last order 15:30, opening at 11:00 on weekends and holidays; dinner is 17:30–23:30, last order 22:30. The operator says credit cards are not accepted, so prepare another payment method. Check the day’s prices and queue, then choose the temperature of the oyakoten udon. Change plans if you are short of time or cannot settle an ingredient question.
