Choose Gifuya’s fried rice and gyoza or Kabuto’s eel-skewer sequence, then optionally climb TMG before Chuo Park. Give the meal, view and ground-level walk their own time.

Walking times are estimates from OpenStreetMap’s surface street network at 80 m/min. They exclude underpasses, decks, station concourses, signal waits, slopes and movement inside buildings. Straight-line links are not walking routes; follow on-site signs even where a time is shown. Shaded quarters show the approximate areas around FOW’s selected places.

Travel
On foot
Start when hungry, when an eatery suits your needs, and when you want to walk afterwards. If no suitable seat is available, choose another meal near the station instead.

Omoide Yokocho
Choose a Chinese-style meal or eel-skewer sequence. Plan 45–60 minutes, plus waiting.
Confirm the eatery’s service, ordering and dietary fit. South Observatory usually admits until 21:30; omit the view when closures or weather do not fit. If the meal or wait runs long, finish at the station rather than forcing the park.
If skipping the view, continue directly from the lanes to the park in daylight. After dark or when walking does not fit, finish at Shinjuku Station after the meal. For a return from the park, use the SHUKNOVA-to-Shinjuku-west-exit walking link below, then confirm the last approach to your actual operator and gate.
Fried rice or a sequence of eel skewers
Choose one Omoide restaurant before this walk. Gifuya offers Chinese-style fried rice, gyoza, wood-ear stir-fry and several ramen styles; Kabuto offers a charcoal-grilled sequence of eel parts. A 2025 report’s ¥700 fried rice and ¥450 gyoza give a ¥1,150 food-price scale. Check drinks, any cover and Kabuto’s skewer sequence at the chosen shop before ordering. Allow 45–60 minutes for a late-afternoon meal, with queues additional. If no seat is available, reconsider the meal rather than waiting only to preserve this route.
After the meal, find the city’s bearings
The TMG observatory is optional. From above, find Park Tower and Opera City southwest and the green spaces of Gyoen and Meiji Jingu southeast. The narrow lanes of the meal and the larger spaces between towers enter one view. Admission is free; allow 30–45 minutes inside, with the lift queue additional. The South Observatory’s ordinary last entry is 21:30, subject to the day’s closures and weather. If the meal or queue takes too long, omit the view and continue to the park or finish at the station.
Back to ground at the waterfalls and terrace
In Chuo Park, allow another 20–30 minutes around Shinjuku Niagara Falls, Shiraito Falls and SHUKNOVA to walk the ground beneath the towers. The park is free, although some renewed lawn is display-only. A shorter daylight choice joins only the meal and park; a late or tiring day can end at the station after eating. Meal, view and park allowances alone total roughly one hour 35 minutes to two hours 15 minutes, with all travel and queues additional. Subtract the observatory time when skipping it.
Walk to the next entrance
After eating, open the Omoide Yokocho-to-TMG No.1 Building walking link in Sources. Find the floor 1 observatory-lift entrance; after descending, use TMG to SHUKNOVA for the park’s terrace side. To omit the view, choose Omoide to SHUKNOVA directly. Separate links return from Omoide or SHUKNOVA to Shinjuku’s west exit; from the station’s west side, continue to the gate for your actual operator.
