Begin with trees and open ground
Yoyogi's Area A offers the central lawn, fountain pond and birdwatching from outside the protected sanctuary fence. Area B's sports and event grounds serve a different visit. An estimated 45–60 minutes from Harajuku Gate through the central field and pond gives the park its own time. Free general access allows an outdoor pause before spending on a book or meal. In heavy rain, shorten the walk and go directly to an indoor ending.
End with a book
SPBS at 17-3 Kamiyamacho combines bookselling with an editorial office behind glass. For short Japanese fragments, 日記が続かない人の日記集 collects interrupted diaries from 47 people in 222 pages. For photography, fashion and summer drinks, AWW’s L’apéro Journal issue 3 is a 104-page colour magazine in Japanese and English. Online prices observed on 19 October 2026 were ¥1,400 and ¥3,500 before tax; original-shop stock and final checkout totals are separate. Add an estimated 30–45 minutes after the park to narrow the visit to one publication. Interior photography is prohibited.
End with the bistro
Le Cabaret is the bistro alternative to SPBS. Begin with ten-vegetable crudités and natural wine, continuing to charcuterie or steak frites for a fuller meal. Hanako's 2023 ¥1,760 crudités and ¥1,320 glass provide a historical ¥3,080 example; meat and further drinks add to the meal. Add an estimated 90–120 minutes. Dinner generally starts at 17:00, closed Mondays/Tuesdays. Choose one ending through appetite and available time.
