Total walking: Transfers from park reference point: about 14 or 16 min; gates and park walk extra
Walking times are estimates from OpenStreetMap’s surface street network at 80 m/min. They exclude underpasses, decks, station concourses, signal waits, slopes and movement inside buildings. Straight-line links are not walking routes; follow on-site signs even where a time is shown. Shaded quarters show the approximate areas around FOW’s selected places.
Start at Harajuku Gate and choose SPBS or alternative Le Cabaret. Existing 14/16-minute transfers start from the representative park point, not the gate. Editorial estimates are 45–60 minutes in the park, then 30–45 for books or 90–120 for a meal. Allow roughly two hours for books or three-plus for dinner, adding the actual gate-to-endpoint walk.
If weather or park events do not fit, choose an individual endpoint. Do not use the Way when both endpoints are closed.
From Harajuku Gate to the pond
Meet at Harajuku Gate on Area A's east. The official map links it with JR Harajuku's Omotesando exit and Meiji-jingumae exits 2/6. Enter for the central field and fountain pond, adding a look from outside the eastern bird-sanctuary fence if interested. An estimated 45–60 minutes includes walking and pauses. The free park visit leads into a choice about appetite and books rather than a compulsory shopping sequence.
For books, leave towards SPBS
SPBS is Terrace Kamiyama 1F, 17-3 Kamiyamacho. Use the official park map to locate southern Shibuya Gate and the Area B/NHK direction, then continue to the Kamiyamacho address. The existing 14 minutes is measured from the representative park point, not newly from that gate. The 222-page collection of interrupted diaries from 47 people suits short Japanese reading; the bilingual Japanese/English L’apéro Journal issue 3 mixes photographs, fashion and drinks. Listed online prices are ¥1,400 and ¥3,500 before tax; original-shop stock and final totals can differ. Add an estimated 30–45 minutes before 21:00; no interior photography. Choose the mapped return towards Shibuya or Yoyogi-Koen station.
For dinner, turn west to the bistro
Choose Le Cabaret instead of SPBS. Leave by the west gate towards Yoyogi-Hachiman, then navigate to Leaf 1F, 8-8 Motoyoyogi; the official park map identifies the station direction outside this side. Add the actual park and side-street walking to the existing 16-minute representative-point figure. Estimate 90–120 minutes for crudités and wine, then charcuterie or steak frites. The 2023 vegetable-and-glass example gives a historical ¥3,080 start. Service starts at 17:00, closed Mondays/Tuesdays. In heavy rain or with closed endings, stop rather than force the continuation.
