SHIBUYA PUBLISHING & BOOKSELLERS

A bookshop with its editorial office visible through glass, linking books, small presses and everyday objects.

Ending the park Way here turns an open-ended walk into a focused encounter with a book.

Visit fitFor browsing indoors after a walk in the park. If a particular event or book is the purpose, confirm it before going.

Editing and bookselling share the address, with objects and used clothing beside the books.

Bookselling beside editing

At SPBS's original shop, the editorial office remains visible behind glass. Books are made and sold at the same address. Literature, social subjects and art share the selection with little presses, zines, objects and used clothing. After an open-ended walk, the small-press shelf is a good first stop: it gives a manageable place to begin without a title in mind.

Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Interrupted diaries, or one person’s year

For short Japanese pieces, 日記が続かない人の日記集 gathers diaries that stopped: fragments from 47 contributors, preserving moods and hesitations across 222 pages, edited and designed by Iimura. For a sustained personal account, Toko Nakajima’s あの子が火山で待っている follows a year confronting anger after trauma treatment. Its A5-format 172 pages combine online diaries with seven new pieces. Choose it for an inward-looking account, rather than a light travel essay.

A larger, bilingual alternative

AWW MAGAZINE’s L’apéro JOURNAL Issue 3 moves towards fashion images, objects for aperitif time and summer drinks. It is a 104-page, full-colour 220 × 300 mm publication in Japanese and English: a different reading proposition from the Japanese diary books. Open this one first for fashion, photographs or English text. SPBS’s individual product pages checked on 19 October 2026 explicitly marked the prices before tax: ¥1,200 for Nakajima, ¥1,400 for the diary anthology and ¥3,500 for the journal. Check the final total and the original shop’s actual display.

An indoor ending after the park

The shop is on the first floor of Terrace Kamiyama, 17-3 Kamiyamacho, normally 11:00–21:00 with event-related changes. An estimated 30–45 minutes after the park allows time for one section and one book. Le Cabaret is the alternative ending for a meal and wine. SPBS prohibits interior photography and does not accept change-of-mind returns, so check the language and format before buying.
