THE ELEPHANT
A basement shop connecting vintage, emerging designers and ORIMI through one buyer’s eye.
After comparing periods at SULLEN, shift the question here to the ideas in newly made clothes.
Visit fitFor exploring emerging designers after vintage browsing. It is not a stop for guaranteed matching stock or a morning visit.
Founder Kenta Orimi presents his own ORIMI alongside designers from Japan and abroad.
Compare what a cut or embellishment is trying to do across vintage and new work, rather than using price alone.

THE ELEPHANT operator · resized and croppedOrimi’s designs and the buyer’s finds
Kenta Orimi opened THE ELEPHANT in 2018 after a career buying vintage. He sells his own ORIMI beside vintage and designers from Japan and overseas. In his 2024 QUI interview, he traced the tucked-away address to his pleasure in finding hidden Harajuku shops as a young customer. The useful reason to make that detour is to try an unfamiliar proportion in person, rather than expect a complete run of familiar basics. The Tokyo shop is in the Factory_01 basement on a Jingumae backstreet.
WHERE · On foot from here
Which side of the station, and how far
North-east of Harajuku Station, about 650 m in a straight line from the station area. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

What the shape actually does
ORIMI's BIG BIG DENIM makes the idea of experimentation tangible: the seller specifies washed Japanese-made cotton denim, an extremely wide leg, diagonal button fly and adjustment buttons at the waist and hems. Its outline changes through those fastenings, not just by choosing a larger size. The official online catalogue checked on 19 October 2026 gave a regular price of ¥75,900. Separate PERFECT SLACKS listings ranged from ¥46,200 to ¥55,000; PAF CUT OUT TROUSERS were ¥97,350. Plan around one considered designer purchase rather than a basket of inexpensive thrift finds.
Choose the kind of discovery
Start with SULLEN in Jinnan when you want to assess the cut and condition of an older designer garment. Choose THE ELEPHANT when you want to put a new, exaggerated shape on your own body; ORIMI is the clearest starting point. The seller's Tokyo-availability field can narrow a shortlist before travel, while trying on resolves length and movement. As an itinerary estimate, allow 20–30 minutes to browse or 45–60 with fittings. Daily hours are 13:00–20:00, so it cannot be a morning stop.
