Masashi Naka founded BIG LOVE in 2008, linking new imports with the making of Japanese editions. Nala Sinephro’s 2021 instrumental album Space 1.8 puts harp and modular synthesizers beside jazz players. Space 2 uses saxophone, piano, guitar, drums and double bass; the closing Space 8 pairs Sinephro’s harp and electronics with Ahnansé’s saxophone. At 17:32, that final piece offers an extended instrumental setting rather than a succession of short songs.
The shop’s October 2026 catalogue listed its fifth-anniversary Japanese edition at ¥6,690: two newly cut black LPs, a gatefold sleeve, obi and Japanese notes. The instrumentation provides a musical starting point; the two-disc package and notes distinguish the object to take home.

Guitar riffs and drum machines
Geese’s Getting Killed takes a guitar-band direction. Partisan describes ten days of recording with Kenneth Blume in Los Angeles: garage riffs meet Ukrainian choir samples, while drum machines sit behind abrasive guitars. Lullaby-like songs alternate with insistent, repetitive experiments. Choose this musical direction for songs and abrupt changes rather than Sinephro’s extended instrumental combinations.
BIG LOVE’s Japan Yellow Edition contains yellow vinyl, obi and a Japanese poster, limited to 444. Those extras identify a particular edition.
The third-floor shop and its bar
The address is 3F-A, 2-31-3 Jingumae, Tuesday–Sunday 14:00–20:30, closed Mondays. The shop asks customers not to make stock enquiries, so plan around browsing rather than a guaranteed single record. Its bar and restroom serve customers. Allow an estimated 30–45 minutes for records or an hour with a drink.
