KOFFEE MAMEYA Omotesando

A standing Omotesando shop for choosing specific bean profiles—such as a fruit-noted Kenyan washed coffee—and adapting them to home brewing.

Choose coffee beans through a conversation about taste and brewing at a standing counter.

Visit fitFor choosing beans around personal taste. It may not suit a seated rest or a schedule that requires immediate entry at an exact time.

A May 2026 Mitondo Washed card links blackcurrant, blood-orange and brown-sugar notes to grind and brew advice; the 140g ¥4,000 purchase is a dated budget example.

Good to know

Discuss the flavours you like and how you brew at home before choosing beans. This is a standing, consultation-led shop, distinct from the Kakeru location's course experience.

Choose beans at a standing counter

Behind its small timber entrance, KOFFEE MAMEYA brings several roasters’ beans to a standing counter. Founder Eiichi Kunitomo built the shop around roast, body and brewing advice adapted to the customer’s home equipment. The visit centres on selecting beans to drink and take home. There are no seats or courses here; the seated Kakeru experience is a separate branch in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa.

They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Fruit notes in a Kenyan washed coffee

A concrete example is Kenyan Mitondo Washed from Okinawa’s Mame Polepole. The MAMEYA card supplied with a May 2026 purchase names washed processing and blackcurrant, blood-orange and brown-sugar notes. This medium roast illustrates fruit acidity and sweetness, a useful preference to discuss at the counter. The 140g bag cost ¥4,000 on that visit.

The visitor’s cup was a ¥900 light-roast Costa Rican Finca Voo Red Catuai from Code Black; she reported that it was not sour. Roast level alone does not settle perceived acidity. Use the day’s specific flavour notes to choose a cup before buying beans. Both coffees are dated May examples.

A grind reference and a home-brewing budget

The Mitondo purchase included a grind sample and a card specifying 14g coffee, 210g water, 90°C and 2½ minutes. These give a concrete reference for discussing home equipment, not a universal recipe.

The official priority-arrival system opens 14 days ahead at a non-refundable ¥390 per person, separate from coffee and beans. Adding it to the dated ¥900 cup gives ¥1,290, or ¥5,290 with that ¥4,000 bag. Find the shop at 4-15-3 Jingumae, 10:00–18:00. Priority service can still involve waiting; maximum stay is 45 minutes, and arriving over 15 minutes late cancels the request. Leave time for the bean conversation.
