Roundabout
An Uehara basement for Kazuto Kobayashi’s selection of stainless tools, towels and objects made for use.
Choose it for materials and change through use, compared with CIBONE’s room compositions or LOST AND FOUND’s task-based selection.

A 2023 interview describes display furniture made from potato-harvest boxes and surplus oars.

ACT LOCALLY · resized and croppedA towel changed by use
Kazuto Kobayashi selects everyday vessels, tools and textiles at Roundabout. LITTLE SUNSHINE makes that interest tangible: twisted cotton yarn becomes a long-pile towel, then repeated washing twists the pile into small cords. Its initially firmer handle becomes more supple with use. Directed by Daisuke Hinatsu and manufactured by Hotman in Ome, it is a useful first object for understanding how construction changes a familiar daily tool.

Which side of the station, and how far
South of Yoyogi-Uehara Station, about 200 m in a straight line from the station point. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Boxes, stands and their previous lives
In a 2023 interview, Kobayashi described using potato-harvest boxes and surplus oars as displays in the high-ceilinged basement. Stainless kitchen trays and durable cloth belong to the same attention to an object's working life. A June 2026 IFUJI exhibition added Masashi Ifuji's bent cherry and maple oval boxes, including black finishes made through three plant-dye immersions. That exhibition has ended; its making process remains an example of the shop's selection.
Starting with a small textile
The shop is in the basement at 3-7-12 Uehara, noon–19:00, closed Tuesdays. A handkerchief-sized towel is an easy first purchase to use daily and carry home. For scale, another retailer, HOEK, listed the 23 × 23 cm LITTLE SUNSHINE chief towel at ¥1,320 including tax in the catalogue checked in October 2026; Roundabout's current price remains unverified. Allow an estimated 30–45 minutes. Establish basement access in advance if stairs are difficult.
