Walking times are estimates from OpenStreetMap’s surface street network at 80 m/min. They exclude underpasses, decks, station concourses, signal waits, slopes and movement inside buildings. Straight-line links are not walking routes; follow on-site signs even where a time is shown. Shaded quarters show the approximate areas around FOW’s selected places.
On weekdays, time the route around Union's noon opening. Surface walking takes an estimated 3 + 4 minutes, plus 1 minute for HMV, totalling 680 m with HMV. With browsing and floors, estimate 2½ hours for three stops or three hours with HMV. Union/Face close at 20:00, HMV at 21:00 and Tower at 22:00. Finish at Face if satisfied or tired.
If a required stop does not fit, choose individual Places. Optional stops may be omitted.
From Hachiko to one or two Tower floors
Tower’s official approach starts at JR Shibuya Hachiko Exit: cross the scramble and follow the Koen-dori direction, about five minutes to 1-22-14 Jinnan. Japanese CDs are on 3F, vinyl/cassettes on 6F and international CDs on 7F. For a first LP, Nujabes’s modal soul joins piano and drum breaks with rap and singing. Tower’s 2024 2LP edition was listed online at ¥4,950 including tax on 19 October 2026. Allow an estimated 30–60 minutes for one or two floors, then follow another period of Japanese pop or Brazilian music at the next shops. Stock, performances and promotional offers have separate conditions.
A copy in PARCO B1, related music in room 301
The map’s surface walk is about three minutes/270 m from Tower to PARCO; enter 15-1 Udagawacho and descend to Union Record on B1. Junichi Inagaki’s NO STRINGS offers synths, programmed accompaniment and relaxed soul-pop; Yosui Inoue’s 氷の世界 moves between folk, funk and Japanese popular song. Choose between a smooth setting and changing song structures, then check catalogue number, obi, liner and lyrics. Read separate sleeve/disc grades and dirt or scratch descriptions.
After an estimated 30–45 minutes, continue to Face Records, Shin Tokyo Building 301, 10-2 Udagawacho. The four-minute/290 m leg is surface-only, with ascent extra. Marcos Valle’s Sempre supplies bass, horns and percussion connecting disco and samba. Follow an instrument or rhythm that interested you at Union into Brazilian music. Allow another estimated 30–45 minutes. General hours are 11:00–20:00; cash, Visa, Mastercard, JCB and Amex are accepted.
Add HMV for another useful edition
Finish at Face and return towards Shibuya station, or add HMV at Noah Shibuya 1F/2F, 36-2 Udagawacho for Japanese reissues and club music. The existing extra leg is about one minute/120 m, but allow another estimated 30–45 minutes for its two floors. SUNSHOWER offers Rhodes, synths and saxophone; LOVE TRIP starts with Mamiya’s voice and rhythm guitar. Issuer-listed editions include clear-purple SUNSHOWER CRJ-1030 and clear LOVE TRIP PROT-7340. Check the actual catalogue number and colour to distinguish a manufactured reissue from judging an individual used copy at Union. Core surface walking is seven minutes; estimate 2½ hours with visits, or three with HMV, plus queues and station approach. Follow the map back to Shibuya station.
