Walking times are estimates from OpenStreetMap’s surface street network at 80 m/min. They exclude underpasses, decks, station concourses, signal waits, slopes and movement inside buildings. Straight-line links are not walking routes; follow on-site signs even where a time is shown. Shaded quarters show the approximate areas around FOW’s selected places.
BerBerJin opens at 13:00; BIG LOVE at 14:00 Tuesday–Sunday, closed Monday. Eight minutes/650 m is an estimated walk, excluding shopping, queues and stairs.
If a required stop does not fit, choose individual Places. If the clothing stops are enough, finish at BerBerJin and return to rail.
From broad used clothing to denim construction
Start from the Meiji-jingumae/Harajuku side at CHICAGO Jingumae, Daiichi Tanimura Building 1F/2F, 4-26-26, separate from Takeshita-dori. The chain covers American, European and Japanese used clothes, accessories and kimono. Decide whether to add colour with tie-dye, compare a tweed jacket’s weave and shoulders, or fit denim around waist and rise before searching both floors.
Follow the Harajuku-dori pedestrian route to BerBerJin’s main shop, SH Building 1F, 3-26-11. It has bought American vintage since 1998. Earlier shop listings of a 1950s leather-patch Levi’s 501XX and 1960s zip-fly 501ZXX supply examples of patches and fastenings. Move from a silhouette at the first shop to buttons, zip, patch and repairs at the second.
Fit and repairs in denim to wear
An earlier BerBerJin listing of Lee 205-5508 black straight jeans pairs a W32/L30 tag with separately measured dimensions. Compare waist, rise and inseam with trousers you wear, then inspect crotch and hem wear and the zip. A Lee Western shirt offers indigo denim with contrasting chamois-cloth yoke and flaps. Read the material description and inspect wear instead of identifying a suede-like surface as leather.
Repairs, missing rivets and stitching loss in the record of 1930s BLACK BEAR workwear give you a way to distinguish collectible hardware from condition for wear. Give CHICAGO time for broad colour, shape and material choices, then BerBerJin time for fastenings, fit and repairs. Follow each shop’s fitting and payment rules.
Give the last record a musical reason
Continue via Harajuku-dori towards BIG LOVE, 3F-A at 2-31-3 Jingumae. Founded by Masashi Naka in 2008, the shop connects new-import selection with Japanese editions. Nala Sinephro's Space 1.8 gives one record a musical purpose: ambient jazz built around harp and modular synthesizers. On 'Space 2', saxophone, piano, guitar, drums and double bass meet synths. Try the actual instrumentation before choosing solely by a cover.
The October 2026 online fifth-anniversary Japanese edition was ¥6,690: newly cut black 2LP, gatefold sleeve, Japanese obi and notes. The physical package adds a reason to own music you could stream. The shop does not take stock enquiries. Its bar and restroom serve customers; current drink prices remain unverified and separate from a record budget.
Three shops that fit an afternoon
CHICAGO opens 11:00–20:00; BerBerJin 13:00–19:00; BIG LOVE Tuesday–Sunday 14:00–20:30, closed Mondays. After 14:00 Tuesday–Sunday is the straightforward window for all three. The estimated walks are about four minutes/330 m and four minutes/320 m: eight minutes/650 m, excluding fittings, browsing and stairs.
Allowing thirty to forty-five minutes at CHICAGO, forty-five to sixty at BerBerJin and thirty to forty-five at BIG LOVE produces an editorial estimate of two to three hours including visits. Finish at BerBerJin and return towards Meiji-jingumae/Harajuku if the clothing stops are enough. After BIG LOVE, allow the return to rail separately; establish third-floor access first if stairs are difficult.
