Protect the child’s play first; choose the view with whatever energy remains.
FOW / TOKYO FIELD NOTES
Five lenses on both sides of the station
A vertical campus, a roofed plaza, a free observatory and a paid hotel seat: western Shinjuku changes through the use of ground and interiors as much as through tower height.

1Shinjuku Chuo Park→ On foot, about 6 min / 450 m · Editorial travel route along the street network. Check on-site signs for entrances, level changes and current restrictions.
Walking times are estimates from OpenStreetMap’s surface street network at 80 m/min. They exclude underpasses, decks, station concourses, signal waits, slopes and movement inside buildings. Straight-line links are not walking routes; follow on-site signs even where a time is shown. Shaded quarters show the approximate areas around FOW’s selected places.
Children wanting outdoor play and their carers. Unsuitable when an indoor rain plan is needed.

Shinjuku Chuo Park
An 8.8-hectare former waterworks site turned park, with waterfall plazas, lawn and wooded terraces that give the tower district different places to pause.
Choose a meal separately. Walking and dwell times have not been validated.
Finish at the park when play and rest are enough. An elevator queue is a reason to omit the view.
Why this order matters
Put play and rest before any elevator queue. Reversing the order risks spending the child’s energy on waiting. Check water play separately. When play has been enough, finish at the park.
How to shorten the walk
The observatory is optional. Free admission does not mean queue-free entry. Omit it if closed or the queue is too much. Allow flexibility: the route to the station and transfer time have not been validated.
