At Ozu, choose between buying paper and making a sheet. The 1F studio forms kozo, paper-mulberry fibre, into paper and dries it for same-day take-home. A regular session takes about 45 minutes, with one A4 sheet each and up to 4 people. Plain papermaking costs ¥1,000; water-drop patterning costs ¥1,200; the design option uses coloured paper and pressed flowers for ¥1,500. Choose plain paper to concentrate on its texture, or compare the patterned options if composing a visible design matters more.
WHERE · On foot from here
Which side of the station, and how far
East of Shin-Nihombashi Station, about 200 m in a straight line from the station point. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Direct or English-guided
Book directly at least 3 days ahead, or phone for the final 2 days and same-day enquiries. Walk-ins depend on space; the design option runs only at 11:30 and 15:00. For an English explanation, compare the information centre’s separate partnered offer: about 60 minutes including transfer, ¥9,000 for a group of 1–4, by advance reservation. English guidance is not included merely because you choose the cheaper direct session.
Shop by what the paper will do
For shopping, begin with a use: calligraphy, printmaking, collage or wrapping. Compare papers made from kozo, mitsumata and gampi; the shop suggests bringing a postcard-sized sample when looking for something similar, without guaranteeing a match. The shop opens Monday–Saturday 10:00–18:00, while the studio closes on Mondays. If a day does not suit papermaking, you can still plan a separate visit to choose paper.

The washi-focused editorial team records personally attempting papermaking; that historical experience is separate from current booking terms. The publisher also sells washi products; payment and hosting for this visit remain unknown.
