Kitazawa is a foreign-language antiquarian humanities specialist rather than a broad English new-release store. Start with literature, Japan and Asia, linguistics or anthropology. Decide whether you want a familiar author in English or a book about something the trip has made you curious about. Check a particular translation or edition before travelling. The shop is on 2F at Jimbocho 2-5, separate from Book House Cafe on 1F. Current guidance gives Monday–Saturday 12:00–17:00, closed Sunday and public holidays. The downstairs cafe and event-rental hours do not describe this bookseller.

Check how your group would reach the upstairs shop, and ask before visiting if you need step-free access. For picture books with a child, consider Book House separately. Leave time for Kitazawa upstairs when foreign-language antiquarian books are your purpose.
