Choose how to read architecture
At Nanyodo, decide whether to follow an architect, study drawings and models or look for technical material. Its observed catalogue juxtaposes architects’ notebooks, model books, technical journals and older architectural studies. Bring a question from a building you have seen—its designer, structure or material—to direct the browse. New Japanese books, used books and foreign titles are different choices; confirm the actual store stock for an essential title.
WHERE · On foot from here
Which side of the station, and how far
East of Jimbocho Station, about 250 m in a straight line from the station point. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Read together
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Choose the opening day
Current guidance is 12:00–18:00, closed Thursday, Sunday and public holidays. New, used and foreign-title stock can change; consult the catalogue first if a particular book is essential. For a building exhibition or making workshop too, confirm a separate programme rather than relying on the bookshop visit to include it.
Give one subject enough time
Give architecture enough time at Nanyodo instead of combining every nearby bookshop. If your interest extends to visual-culture magazines, decide whether magnif would add to the visit. Check each shop’s hours and approach before adding it.
