Learn by brewing the tea yourself
This Japanese tea lesson combines a specialist’s explanation and demonstration with brewing and tasting by participants. The foundation course explores how water temperature changes the flavour, choosing and handling a teapot, and brewing sencha, a Japanese leaf green tea. The advanced course goes further into water, tea manufacture and storage, and blending. Tea, accompanying sweets and questions are part of the session. Set aside time to learn and compare brewing methods, choosing a foundation lesson or a deeper blending session.

How far from the station, and which side
South-east of Mitsukoshimae Station, about 200 m in a straight line from the station point. The position is the official address point and may differ from the entrance. The shaded areas are about 5 and 10 minutes on foot from here.
Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Plan the 90-minute lesson
Each session lasts 90 minutes and is listed for 1–7 participants. Prices start at ¥6,900, including the lesson, space, materials, tea and sweets; check the actual amount for the course and date you choose. Participants must be at least 10 years old. A child under 12 must attend with a paying guardian, so both people pay. Optional retail purchases are separate from taking the lesson. If the teaching language determines whether you can participate, confirm it for your chosen session before booking.
Prepare the advance booking and approach
EnCounter is at Nihonbashi Honcho 1-4-2. Book at least 7 days ahead with credit-card prepayment. Cancellations within 168 hours of the start incur a 100% charge; read the selected session’s terms and changes before paying. Arrive 5 minutes early, with no space available for waiting beforehand. The entrance has a few steps and the venue uses high chairs, so ask first if steps or seat height determine whether the visit works. Broken teaware may be charged at cost. Instructor substitutions or cancellations can occur; seats and operation for your preferred date are not guaranteed.
