Chachanoma

Compare four infusions of one sencha, or choose matcha, a seasonal dessert pairing or a drink to go.

Successive brews let you compare how one tea changes, with time to remember each cup before the next.

Visit fitFor a leisurely introduction to differences between sencha infusions. Arrange a class or an explanation in English before booking if either is essential.

Kasane presents sencha from one field and cultivar in four successive infusions.

Four cups from the same leaves

Sencha is green tea brewed from leaves, unlike matcha, which is whisked from powdered tea. Chachanoma’s Kasane service brews one single-field, single-cultivar sencha four times and serves the infusions in sequence. You are comparing the same leaves as they open, rather than tasting four different teas. Remember the aroma and feel of the first cup, then compare the later servings; the changes depend on the tea you choose. A tea sommelier can recommend that day’s tea. Kasane starts at ¥3,300 including tax and service.

For matcha, there is a separate pairing of organically grown Wazuka tea from Kyoto and one sweet, also from ¥3,300. These are tea services; classes have their own schedules and bookings. If a lesson is your purpose, choose the specific class. Ask before booking if you need the explanation in English.

They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Tea to go

For a shorter stop, takeaway sencha starts at ¥550; Wazuka matcha is ¥700, as is a matcha cappuccino made with Nishio tea from Aichi and milk. Takeaway drinks are made after ordering and do not include an indoor seat.

Plan around the confirmed tea slot

The shop at 5-13-14 Jingumae opens Thursday–Sunday, 13:00–17:00, with last tea orders at 16:00. The café’s booking guidance offers 90-minute slots and may cancel arrivals over 15 minutes late. A separate FAQ also lists a 60-minute indoor limit, so follow the confirmed end time rather than assuming every visit lasts 90 minutes. Seasonal desserts are principally reservation items.

Walk-in groups are limited to two; parties of three or four must book online in advance. Order one tea per person and arrive with your whole party. Keep strollers outside the small room, avoid strong perfume, and do not record video or take calls. It suits an afternoon focused on tea’s aroma. For a brief stop, or if those indoor conditions do not fit, choose takeaway; outside chairs may be used in good weather.
