Cinema Vera Shibuya

Choose repertory film and director retrospectives as a slow cultural pause.

Visit fitFor following the context of older films. Consider whether same-day cash sales suit you if your schedule depends on advance online booking.

The 142-seat cinema has 35mm, 16mm and digital projection. A retrospective lets you choose by a film’s period as well as its projection format.

Good to know

Choose retrospective screenings by period or a director's development. Do not assume you can stay for consecutive films; check each session's ticket and entry arrangements.

Repertory films and their projection formats

Cinema Vera’s 142-seat auditorium occupies KINOHAUS 4F, with 35mm, 16mm and digital projection. Choose a retrospective through a director or period, then consider the format of the individual screening. Check each session’s language information if English or Korean subtitles are essential.

Walking bands are computed by FOW on the OpenStreetMap surface street network at 80 m/min and drawn as a smoothed approximate area around the streets reached. They ignore exit positions, station interiors, underground passages, signals, slopes and routes inside buildings — not directions; follow on-site signs.

Cash tickets and a two-film budget

Ordinary single-film tickets are ¥1,300 general, ¥1,100 senior, ¥700 student and ¥600 junior-high age or younger. Two ordinary general-admission films therefore mean two tickets totalling ¥2,600, with a separate changeover each session. Special screenings and talks can carry a different price; use the individual programme’s tariff.

The counter sells same-day tickets from 10:30, cash only, with no advance or online sales. General guidance allows entry until twenty minutes after the start. Find 1-5 Maruyamacho, about 50m uphill towards Maruyamacho from Bunkamura-mae crossing. The movable wheelchair space is easier to arrange in advance; an accessible toilet is on 1F. Eurospace below uses separate programmes and tickets.
