Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya

Choose family or adult dome programmes south of Shibuya Station; live-presented astronomy offers an indoor cultural pause, with narration-language conditions checked in advance.

Visit fitFor setting aside time for an indoor programme regardless of weather. Confirm provision first if English narration is essential.

The 17m dome’s 120 seats combine Gemini Star III optical stars with digital imagery. Choose a show by its intended audience, length and live narration.

Good to know

Compare descriptions and start times for family and adult programmes. Narration is part of the dome experience, so language is part of the choice.

Finding stars inside the dome

Cosmo Planetarium puts 120 reclining seats beneath a 17m dome on Owada's 12F; 36 seats also rotate through 90 degrees. Its GeminiStar III combines optical stars with digital space imagery. In a February 2026 interview, presenter Sasaki described adding travel photographs and astronomy stories to live narration; presenters vary by date.

For a child’s first visit, compare the length and story of family sessions. For a longer astronomy explanation, look at the general programme’s subject. Japanese live narration forms part of the experience; enquire first if English narration is essential.
